1892 - Roy Palmer was born on this day. A traditional jazz trombonist and native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He worked with Tuxedo and the Onward brass bands, Papa Celestin, and Richard M. Jones band in Storyville. He left for chicago after Storyville closed and recorded with King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Lil Hardin Armstrong, Freddie Keppard, and the State Street Ramblers. He passed away in December 1962 at the age of 70 in Chicago.
