| 1956 - Gregg Martinez was born on this day. A rhythm and blues and swamp pop singer and a native of Lafayette, Louisiana. His inspirations are Sam Cooke, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Big Luther Kent, and Johnny Adams. In 1985 he began playing in the Trump Casinos in New Jersey, and signed a recording contract. In 1990, he began blending his R&B with christian music and that lasted a number of years. In 2006, he relocated back to South Louisiana. At this time he also joined the legendary blue-eyed soul group the Boogie Kings, and was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of fame. He continues to tour and record with Gregg Martinez and the Delta Kings. |
