1922 - Blanche Thomas was born on this day. A blues and jazz singer, born in New Orleans, Louisiana. Began her singing career at the old Tick Tock Club. Popular singer in many Bourbon Street clubs. She sang with Louis Armstrong, Al Hirt, Pete Fountain and "Papa" French, and performed at jazz festivals in several cities, at Carnegie Hall, in the Hollywood Bowl, at the grand opening of the Kennedy Center in Washington, D. C. She passed away in 1977 at the age of 54. |
