| 2001 - Betty Farmer (Elizabeth Ann Farmer), a jazz singer and native of New Orleans passed away on this day as a result of the World Trade Center attacks. She made her debut with a Dixieland band and Al Hirt in her native New Orleans as a teenager, she toured with Duke Ellington in the 1960's and 1970's and in 1972 performed with him in Carnegie Hall. |
