1971 - Edward 'Lefty' Eirmann, traditional jazz string bassist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. Born in 1894, Eirmann worked with Happy Schilling before the 1920's. He was a security guard with Pan American Insurance, and remained active in music throu the 1940's. He died in New Orleans.
