| 1906 - Ruben Roddy was born on this day. Traditional saxophonist from Joplin, Missouri. He migrated to New Orleans after a career that included stints in the bands of Count Basie, Bennie Moten and Walter Page. Once in the Crescent City, he joine the Eureka Brass Band, and played in dance bands led by Kid Thomas. Ruben died in New Orleans in 1960. |
