1957 - Tom McDermott was born on this day. A pianist and composer from St. Louis. He moved to New Orleans in 1984 and became noted for the Dixieland jazz and ragtime and spent much of the 90's in the Dukes of Dixieland. In 1994 he co-founded and wrote arrangements for the New Orleans Nightcrawlers. He has released nine CDs as a leader. Since 2001 he has devoted much time studying and recording Brazilian choro music
