2009 - Willy DeVille, a singer and songwriter from Stamford, Connecticut. His early music career was spen in New York with his group Mink DeVille. Willy became an adopted son of New Orleans when he moved there in 1988, and lived in the French Quarter. In 1990, DeVille made Victory Mixture, a tribute album of classic New Orleans soul and R&B which he recorded with some of the songs' original composers such as Earl King, Dr. John, Eddie Bo and Allen Toussaint. In 1992, Willy toured Europe with Dr John, Johnny Adams, Zachary Richard, and The Wild Magnolias as part of his "New Orleans Revue" tour. Willy passed away in 2009 at the age of 58. |
