| 1977 - Blanche Thomas, traditional jazz and blues vocalist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. She was born in 1918, and was a rare singer of authentic blues. She began singing on Bourbon Street in 1944, and was featured in the 1960's at Dixieland Hall. In the 1970's she was featured at Heritage Hall. She also appeared in the film 'Jazz Age To Space Age' and recorded on the Louisiana Department of Commerce and Industry's series 'All That Jazz'. Blanche died in New Orleans. |
