2011 - Sherman Washington, a vocalist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 85. He was the leader of the famous gospel group, The Zion Harmonizers. He also ran and grew the Gospel tent at the New Orleans jazz and Heritage festival for many years.
