| 1994 - Danny Barker the legendary New Orleans banjo player, guitarist and educator died on this day. During his long career, he played with Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Cab Calloway and many other legends of jazz. Barker, with his wife Blu Lu, returned to New Orleans from New York City in 1965, and devoted most of the remainder of his life bringing the legacy of traditional jazz to younger generations of our city. |
