1973 - Frank Christian, traditional jazz trumpeter, clarinetist and violinist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. Frank was the member of a musical family that included his two brothers Emile and Charles. He started with Papa Laine's Reliance Band. He was a bandleader and led the New Orleans Jazz Band in Chicago and New York with Jimmy Durante on Piano. He also worked with Fischer's Brass Band and in his later days played with Durfee's Band. Frank died in New Orleans.
