2003 - Earl King (Silas Johnson), singer and guitarist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 66. He was a prime New Orleans R&B force for more than four decades. He was a well-known composer who wrote 'Those Lonely, Lonely Nights', the much covered 'Trick Bag' and and Professor Longhair's "Big Chief. In 1972, he was joined by Allen Toussaint and the Meters to record the album Street Parade. |
