1925 - Sherman Washington was born on this day. A vocalist and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the leader of the famous gospel group, The Zion Harmonizers. He also ran and grew the Gospel tent at the New Orleans jazz and Heritage festival for many years. He passed away in March, 2011 at the age of 85.
