1962 - Efrem Pierre Towns was born on this day. Trumpeter and original member of the 'Dirty Dozen Brass Band'. He was the only member of the band that wasn't a native New Orleanian. The bands style has been described as 'Jazz Gumbo', and are known for playing street parades and jazz funerals.
