1928 - August A. 'Dimes' Dupont III was born on this day. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He played alto and baritone saxophone with Edgar Blanchard And The Gondoliers and performed with his uncle, guitarist and banjo player Danny Barker. He also, worked with Ray Charles and others. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 68.
