1877 - Tom Albert was born on this day. Traditional jazz trumpeter from Algiers, Louisiana. One of the true jazz originals, he was a founding member of the Eureka Brass Band. Albert also led his own band for 25 years. He died on December 13, 1969, just short of his 92nd birthday.
