| 1931 - Wayne Bennett was born on this day. A Blues guitarist who was born in Sulphur, Oklahoma, and passed away in New Orleans, Louisiana. He worked with blues musicians such as Bobby Bland, Boxcar Willie, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker and Elmore James, as well as with jazz musicians, including Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Stitt and Dexter Gordon. In 1990, Bennett played on Willy DeVille's album Victory Mixture, which was a collection of classic 50's and 60 New Orleans R&B classics. Wayne passed away in 1992 at the age of 60. |
