1957 - Julien 'Digger' Laine, traditional jazz trombonist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1907, and began his career at the old Fern Café No. 2. During his musical career he was mostly identified with Johnny Wiggs, Irving Fazola and Sharkey Bonano. He did play in Chicago for a short time with Muggsy Spanier. He died in New Orleans.
