1878 - Frank Duson was born on this day. A traditional valve trombonist and a native of Algiers, Louisiana. Frank played with Buddy Bolden in the early 1900's. He took over Bolden's band when he was committed to an institution. Worked on the riverboats and cabaret's leading his own band and sparingly, with Louis Dumaine. He was active until his death in New Orleans.
