1941 - Brenton Wood (Alfred Jesse Smith) was born on this day. Shreveport, Louisiana native singer and songwriter best known for two hits released in 1967 called "The Oogum Boogum Song" and "Gimme Little Sign". He did make it to the R&B charts with other songs though not as popular as the aforementioned.
