| 1913 - Arthur Pons was born on this day. Traditional jazz guitarist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Known as a virtuoso soloist, he played with prominent dixieland players from the thirties through the fifties. He played with Irving Fazola, Armand Hug, Monk Hazel and Julian Laine. Pons died in New Orleans on November, 29, 1973. |
