1954 - 'Dink' Johnson, traditional jazz clarinetist, pianist, vocalist and drummer from Biloxi, Mississippi passed away in this day. He was a member of the 'Original Creole Orchestra' in California. He also played with New Orleans legends, Freddie Keppard, George Bacquet and Jelly Roll Morton. Later in his career, he was a blues pianist and singer, and recorded for American Music. He was also the brother-in-law of the great Jelly Roll Morton. He died in Portland, Oregon. |
