1972 - Eddie Dawson, a traditional jazz string bassist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 88. He played in the red light district, Storyville, with Joe 'King' Oliver. He played around the New Orleans area all of his life and in the 1950's was associated with Peter Bocage playing a gig a Mama Lou's in Little Woods. The end of his career was spent at Preservation Hall. |
