| 1973 - Joseph Rena, traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1897, and in his teen years he played with his famous brother, Kid Rena. He then performed with Wesley Don's Liberty Bell Orchestra and Kid Rena's Dixie Jazz Band. He rejoined his brother in 1940, and stayed with him until he retired from music to become an Evangelical Baptist preacher. Joseph died in New Orleans. |
