1973 - Emile Christian, a traditional jazz trombonist, String bassist and trumpeter from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 78. Emile was the member of a musical family that included his two brothers Frank and Charles. He played with the Reliance Brass Band and replaced Daddy Edwards in the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. He also played with the top dixieland groups of Sharkey Bonano and Santo Pecora.
