1988 - Ray Baudac, traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 78. Played with plenty of big names and gained world acclaim. Among the groups he performed with were Joe Venuti, Johnny Bayersdorffer, The Dorsey brothers, Bob Crosby and the Bobcats, Jimmy Dorsey and Jack Teagarden. He retired in San Antonio, Texas in the late seventies, but performed occasionally.
