1887 - Honore' Dutrey was born on this day. A traditional jazz trombonist from New Orleans, Louisiana. the history books all disagree on his birth dates. It could also be 1890 or 1894. He was a member of a New Orleans musical family that included his brother, Sam, a clarinetist. He began with the 'Melrose Brass Band' and played with Sam in the 'Silver Leaf Orchestra'. He toured with King Oliver's Creole Jazz band in the early 1920's. In the late 1920's he worked with Carroll Dickerson, Johnny Dodds and Louis Armstrong in Chicago. He died in Chicago.
