1908 - Avery 'Kid' Howard was born on this day. Traditional jazz cornetist, trumpeter and drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana. Howard played drums with Chris Kelly and Isaiah Morgan. He also played infrequently with the 'Young Tuxedo Brass Band', but primarily led his own brass band for dances. Later, during the fifties, he played trumpet with George Lewis. Howard was also widely recorded in the fifties and sixties. He died in New Orleans in March, 1966.
