1934 - Fernest (Man) Abshire was born on this day. He was a drummer and a singer from Crowley, Louisiana. He worked with Lawrence Walker and The Wandering Aces in 1950. Aldus Roger and The Lafayette Playboys in 1953, and Belton Richard and The Musical Aces. He was with Aldus Roger at the Folklife Festival in Washington D.C. Mr. Abshire also recorded with Lawrence Walker and Belton Richard. He died of leukemia in 1964. The Cajun Music Hall of Fame inducted him posthumously in 1997. |
