| 1942 - Amédé Ardoin, a Creole musician, known for his high singing voice and virtuosity on the Accordion passed away on this day at 44. He was a native of L'Anse Rougeau, Louisiana. With fiddle player Dennis McGee, he was one of the first artists to record cajun music. He and McGee recorded six songs for Columbia Records. In all, thirty-four recordings with Ardoin playing accordion are known to exist. |
