| 1936 - Black Billy Sunday (Rev. Dr. J. Gordon McPherson), a gospel evangelist passed away on this day in New Orleans. He's most well known for his recording "This Old World Is In A Hell Of A Fix", which has been described as a fire and brimstone sermon if ever there was one. He settled in New Orleans, Louisiana to serve as a minister, but not before recording, serving in the Spanish American War, and earning a psychology degree. He was born in 1869. |
