| 1976 - Nathan 'Jim' Robinson, traditional jazz trombonist from Deer Range, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1892, and took up trombone in the service. Upon his return to New Orleans, he played with the Sam Morgan band for over 10 years. He studied with Sunny Henry and played with Lee Collins in the Golden Leaf band. Additionally, he played and recorded with Kid Howard, George Lewis, Kid Rena and Bunk Johnson. Jim died in New Orleans. |
