1971 - Sam Dutrey, Jr., clarinetist from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day. He was born in 1915 and it is assumed that his father was Sam Dutrey, Sr., the brother of Honore'. Both father and uncle were dixieland pioneers. Sam, Jr. played parade jobs and dances and recorded for Southland Records. He also worked with Joe Robichaux in the thirties. Sam, Jr. died in New Orleans.
