| 1947 - Clifford 'Snags' Jones, traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1900, and worked with Lee Collins, Jack Carey and Buddy Petit early in his career. He also subbed for 'Celestin's Original Tuxedo Orchestra' before 1920. He went north and worked with King Oliver, Art Sims and Bernie Young in the twenties. In the thirties he worked regularly in Chicago, and up until a year before his death, he played with 'Bunk' Johnson. 'Snags' died in Chicago. |
