1961 - William 'Bebe' Ridgley, traditional jazz trombonist from New Orleans Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1882, and began his musical career with the Silver Leaf orchestra. He then founded the 'Tuxedo Brass Band', and the original Tuxedo Orchestra. He worked with those two bands for many years, sometimes with and sometimes without Papa Celstin. He remained active until 1936, except for a final public appearance at the age of 79, to mourn Alphonse Picou. Bebe' died in New Orleans.
