2001 - Nowell 'Papa' Glass, traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana died on this day at the age of 73. He was born in 1927, and was the son of legendary brass band drummer, Booker T. Glass. He played with the George Williams and Theo Riley brass bands. He also performed with the 'Eureka Brass Band'. 'Papa' Glass died in New Orleans.
