1929 - Tabby Thomas (Ernest Joseph Thomas) was born on this day. Singer, pianist and guitarist and native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is one of the best known swamp blues musicians in Baton Rouge, and had, since the late 1970s, operated his own blues club there, Tabby's Blues Box and Heritage Hall. Among his seven children is the noted blues musician Chris Thomas King. He had a stroke in 2004, which affected his playing but not his singing. He passed away in the early hours of January 1, 2014 at the age of 84.
