1943 - (Mighty) Sam McClain was born on this day. A Grammy nominated soul blues singer and songwriter and a native of Monroe, Louisiana. He began singing in his mother's Gospel Church. For fifteen years, first in Nashville, Tennessee, then in New Orleans, he worked at menial jobs in the 70's and 80's. He toured and recorded in Japan in 1989 producing Live in Japan. He moved to New England and since has produced over 10 solo releases including Grammy nominations. He's also produced and worked on music for film.
