1949 - Arthur 'Bud' Scott, traditional jazz guitarist and banjoist from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day. He was born in 1890, and played in Storyville with Freddie Keppard and 'Kid' Ory in the early 1900's. He also played with Buddy Bolden and John Robichaux. He recorded with King Oliver, and went to Chicago to work with Jimmy Noone and Erskine Tate. During the Depression, he went to California, and worked with Mutt Carey and Kid Ory until his death. He died in Los Angeles, California. |
