| 2004 - Olivia (Lady Charlotte) Cook, a pianist and vocalist, and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 91. She was a fixture in New Orleans jazz clubs, and began her career as the only woman in Herbert Leary’s 17-member band. She played Dixieland-style and traditional jazz with Papa French and his sons George and Bob French, Wallace Davenport, Danny Barker, Louis Nelson, as well as her own band. |
