1927 - Nowell ' Papa' Glass was born on this day. Traditional jazz drummer from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the son of legendary brass band drummer, Booker T. Glass, and also played with the George Williams and Theo Riley brass bands. He also performed with the 'Eureka Brass Band'. 'Papa' Glass died on April 3, 2001 at the age of 73.
