1928 - William Clinton (Professor) Nickerson, a music teacher and a native of New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 63. He was a teacher at the St. Joseph University, a Catholic university. He was well known for teaching many musicians including Jelly Roll Morton and Manuel Manetta, who both both spoke very highly of Professor Nickerson. Mannetta said that Nickerson's daughter Camille was the best pianist in the city. |
