1958 - Albert Glenny, traditional jazz accordionist, string bassist, tuba and bass drum player from New Orleans, Louisiana passed away on this day at the age of 88. Glenny was an active jazz musician for 75 years, which began as the bass drum player in Buddy Bolden's marching band. He played with all the great New Orleans jazz musicians since before music was recorded. He is considered to be one of the greatest bassists. Albert died in New Orleans. |
