| 1895 - Emile Christian was born on this day. Traditional jazz trombonist, String bassist and trumpeter from New Orleans, Louisiana. Emile was the member of a musical family that included his two brothers Frank and Charles. He played with the Reliance Brass Band and replaced Daddy Edwards in the Original Dixieland Jazz Band. He also played with the top dixieland groups of Sharkey Bonano and Santo Pecora. Emile died in New Orleans in December, 1973. |
